To find out if you're registered to vote, or which party you are registered with please visit nycvotersearch.com.

If you have a valid ID from the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles, you can register to vote or change your party designation online here.

• You will need to provide the following information once you have navigated to the NYS DMV Voter website:
• ID Number from NYS Driver License or Non-Driver ID
• Document Number from NYS Driver License or Non-Driver ID
• Date of Birth (DOB)
• Current Zip Code
• Last 4 digits of Social Security Number (SSN)
• Email Address
• From there, you will be able to change your party enrollment to the Democratic Party.

Yes, voters without a NY driver’s license or non-driver ID are still able to change their registration. If you do not have a valid ID from the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles, you have two options to be able to update your party affiliation:

By Mail

1. Print:
   • Download the voter registration application here.
2. Fill Out:
   • Complete the voter registration form, and enroll in the Democratic Party.
3. Sign By Hand:
   • Digital signatures on the form will NOT be accepted – you must sign by hand in blue or black ink.
4. Mail:
   • Return the completed form by dropping it off at your County Board of Elections office in person or by mailing it to:

In Person

• You may update your voter registration in person at one of the five Board of Elections Borough Offices or the Executive Office (office addresses and contact information can be found here).
• These locations are open M-F, 9am to 5pm.
• Make sure to bring appropriate voter ID with you to update your voter registration. If you cannot provide the last four digits of your social security number on your voter registration application, you must bring a copy of any of the following documents along with your registration application:
• Current utility bill
• Bank statement
• Government check or paycheck
• Government document that shows name and address

New York law requires that you must be registered as a Democrat by February 14, 2025 in order to be eligible to vote in the 2025 Democratic Primary. Almost 70% of NYC voters are registered Democrats, meaning that whoever wins the Democratic primary will almost certainly become the City’s next mayor. You must change your registration to Democrat by February 14, in order to be eligible to vote in the Democratic primary and have a voice in choosing our next mayor.

Yes, if you are a student in New York City, but have a residence in another state and wish to vote in the 2025 New York City Primary, you can fill out a registration form as long as you list the address of your New York City residence.

Yes, there is no limit on the number of times you can change your party affiliation. If you wish to register as a member of a different party in the future, you will follow a similar process to what you followed to change your registration to Democrat. Additionally, even if you remain as a registered Democrat you are not obligated to vote for the Democratic candidate in elections.
