The only way to have a say in choosing a Mayor that will stand up for law enforcement and keep our communities safe is by making sure you are registered with the Democratic Party before February 14.

Since May 2020, shootings in New York City have increased by more than 140% and murders have increased by 50% over 2019. In 2021, there will be a historic election to choose the next Mayor of New York City. At a time when some politicians are calling to defund the police, it’s never been more important to elect a mayor that prioritizes public safety and will stand up for law enforcement. Almost 70% of NYC voters are registered Democrats, meaning that whoever wins the Democratic primary will almost certainly become the City’s next mayor.

You must be registered with the Democratic Party by February 14, in order to be eligible to vote in the Democratic primary and have a voice in choosing our next mayor. Update your voter registration by February 14 to choose NYC’s next mayor:

What’s at stake in 2021? Here’s why enrolling as a Democrat to vote in the June Democratic primary matters for choosing the next Mayor of NYC:

  • Nearly 70% of NYC voters are registered Democrats. That’s 4x as many registered Democrats as Independents and 7x more registered Democrats than Republicans. That means the winner of the June Democratic primary is nearly certain to become the next Mayor of NYC. Voters not registered with the Democratic Party will likely have no say in choosing the next Mayor.
  • If you are not registered as a Democrat by February 14, 2021 and can’t vote in the Democratic primary in June, you are leaving the choice of who leads our city to a small minority of voters who don’t represent all New Yorkers. In 2013, only 3% of New Yorkers voted for de Blasio in the Democratic primary and made him mayor for the next 8 years. Don’t be shut out this year.
  • Over 500,000 New Yorkers are out of work and a third of the city’s 230,000 small businesses may never reopen. Since May, New York has seen a more than 140% increase in shootings and a 50% increase in murders over 2019. Whoever becomes the next Mayor will determine whether or not New York City can get back on track. All New Yorkers should have a say in who this next mayor will be.
